Striated Heron over Nerang Broadwater

Post by Nicholas Matheson-Kozakis » Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:52 pm

Saw a striated heron over the Broadwater near the Versace Resort on 15/8. We often see them along the boardwalk at Nudgee Beach but have never seen one over the busy Broadwater.

Unfortunately, we only saw eight bushstone curlews in a single group along The Southport Spit opposite Sea World this weekend. Earlier in the year we saw 13 in one group.

However, a pair of Brahminies, rather than a single individual, were patrolling the beach between Miami and Nobby this same weekend. One of them was seriously harassed by about five peewees.

Thanks, Nick
