Baillon's Crake

Post by Mick Atzeni » Fri Nov 18, 2011 2:09 pm

A Baillon's Crake was photographed 2/11/11 by Graham Allum at the Helidon Spa Golf Course on a dams near the club house.

On home page, at link below, you can just see the edge of the dam where it was photographed, on left side of photo as viewed from club house.

Club's been going since 1975. I reckon you could count the number of local Baillon's Crake records over the past 36 years on two hands - I've only seen them a couple of times at Hood's lagoon at Helidon - so a big thanks to Graham, the greenkeeper, for bringing this bird to our attention. Reckon we should all go and have a game of golf there now; keep him on the job.

Cheers
Mick
